Duquesne Light Company's Default Service Plan

Default Service Plan Auction Process

Duquesne Light Company (“Duquesne”) will be seeking proposals to fulfill its obligation as a default-service electric provider for customers who don’t choose alternative electric generation suppliers. Duquesne serves more than a half million customers in southwestern Pennsylvania.

Duquesne Light will be replacing expiring Provider of Last Resort (POLR) contracts several times annually, as detailed in the Calendar page. Default Service fixed-priced products will be procured in a separate auction ("Fixed-Price (FP) Auction") from the hourly-priced auction ("Hourly-Priced (HP) Auction"). The fixed-price auction contracts include 12-month and 24-month supply contracts for load following full-requirements fixed-price tranches for the Residential & Lighting and Small Commercial & Industrial customer classes, and 3-month supply contracts for load following full-requirements fixed-price tranches for the Medium Commercial & Industrial customer class. The hourly-priced auction contract is for 12-month load following full-requirements hourly-priced tranches for the Large Commercial & Industrial customer class. The fixed-price and hourly-priced auctions will be conducted simultaneously.

As the Independent Market Monitor, CRA International manages the auction processes. A descending-price clock bidding format will be used. For additional information regarding the DSP and to receive updates please register on this Information Website. Click here to register.
